Message from the National Black Catholic Seminarians' Association
In 2010 the World Day of Prayer for Vocations will be observed on Sunday,
April 25-Good Shepherd Sunday. Mindful of the World Day of Prayer for
Vocations and with particular concern for the need for priestly vocations in
the Black Catholic community in the United States, the National Black
Catholic Seminarians Association has called for a National Day of Prayer for
Vocations in the Black Community.
The National Day of Prayer for Vocations in the Black Community will occur
on Saturday, April 24, 2010 - the 124th anniversary of the priestly
ordination of Father Augustus Tolton, the first recognized Black priest in
the United States.
We invite Catholic communities across the country - parishes, schools,
Newman centers, Knights & Ladies of Peter Claver, Knights of Columbus, and
others - to prayerfully consider participating in the National Day of Prayer
for Vocations in the Black Community.
Coupled with the World Day of Prayer for Vocations (April 25), communities
are presented with an incredible opportunity to pray for, promote, and
support vocations to priesthood.
The attached TOOL KIT(pdf) has been prepared to assist communities in planning
their prayerful participation in the National Day of Prayer.
Please help us by passing this information (and Tool Kit) on to communities
who may be interested.

Thank you in advance for your support!
